A convicted member of the now-defunct online movie piracy group IMAGiNE has left a public statement before starting his 40-month prison term. Last Friday 53-year-old sysop Gregory Cherwonik of New York was transferred to a detention facility to serve his sentence. In his first public words on the case he criticizes the MPAA and the U.S. Department of Justice, among others.

Andrew Auernheimer Guilty For Leaking 120,000 iPad Owners' Emails

A hacker has been convicted of the AT&T security breach in 2010 in which 120,000 iPad owners' email addresses were leaked. Andrew 'Weev' Auernheimer, 26, has been found guilty in the District Court in New Jersey of conspiracy to access a computer without authorization and fraud in connection with personal information. He'll be sentenced in February, and faces up to five years in prison on each count.

15-Year-Old Cosmo Sentenced for Identity Theft and Cybercrime

The 15-year-old UG Nazi hacker known as Cosmo* or Cosmo the God was sentenced in juvenile court on Wednesday in Long Beach, California. According to Cosmo, he pleaded guilty to multiple felonies in exchange for a probation, encompassing all the charges brought against him, which included charges based on credit card fraud, identity theft, bomb threats, and online impersonation.
