DERMALOG FingerLogin includes keyboard with fingerprint scanner, which utilizes high-performance optics and Live Finger Detection and can be connected via USB interface to PC or thin client. Solution also includes biometric software that compares scan with fingerprint database and password administration. Integrating in networks of public authorities, companies, and other organizations, such as hospitals or banks, product allows only owner of registered finger to retrieve authorized data.

Google Chrome's Background Apps: Evolving with Security Concerns

Google has announced that forthcoming releases of its Chrome browser will be able to run apps in the background. Essentially, the feature moves Chrome one step closer to becoming a true application platform--and with continuing efforts to develop HTML5, in a few years time it's very likely the Chrome browser will have more in common with an operating system than a humble Web browser.

phpMyAdmin: 3.3.9.1 & 2.11.11.2 Non-Critical Path Disclosure

The phpMyAdmin developers have announced the release of version 3.3.9.1 and 2.11.11.2 of their database administration tool, security updates that fix a path disclosure vulnerability. According to the developers, when the README, ChangeLog or LICENSE files are removed from their original location, the scripts used to display these files can show their full path, possibly leading to further attacks.

Chrome Update 9.0.597.94: High-Risk WebKit Issues Resolved

Less than one week after Chrome 9 was released into the browser's stable branch, Google has released version 9.0.597.94 of Chrome for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, a maintenance and security update. The security update addresses a total of five vulnerabilities in the WebKit-based browser, three of which are rated as "High" priority.

Arbor Networks' annual infrastructure report for 2010 shows mobile networks in the crosshairs, DDoS attacks against ISPs intensify. In a painful reminder of the fragile state of wireless network security, some 55 percent of mobile providers worldwide suffered outages in 2010 due to security incidents, according to a new report on network infrastructure released today.
