Debian: DSA 184-1 Critical: krb4 Buffer Overflow Remote Threat

A critical buffer overflow in Debian's krb4 requires immediate attention and updates to protect your system from threats.
There is another stack buffer overflow in the kadm_ser_wrap_in function in the Kerberos v4 administration server.

Summary

Tom Yu and Sam Hartman of MIT discovered another stack buffer overflow
in the kadm_ser_wrap_in function in the Kerberos v4 administration
server. This kadmind bug has a working exploit code circulating,
hence it is considered serious.

This problem has been fixed in version 1.1-8-2.2 for the current
stable distribution (woody), in version 1.0-2.2 for the old stable
distribution (potato) and in version 1.1-11-8 for the unstable
distribution (sid).

We recommend that you upgrade your krb4 packages immediately.

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
