Fedora 26 glibc Update: Minor DNS Stub Resolver Security Fix

fedora
Calendar Grey August 20, 2017
Dist Fedora Esm H88
The latest kernel revision for Ubuntu 20.04 boosts performance and resolves a small networking vulnerability, safeguarding the overall system functionality.
This update improves compatibility with legacy 32-bit i386 applications (RHBZ#1471427) and addresses a minor security vulnerability in the DNS stub resolver (CVE-2017-12132).

Summary

The glibc package contains standard libraries which are used by

multiple programs on the system. In order to save disk space and

memory, as well as to make upgrading easier, common system code is

kept in one place and shared between programs. This particular package

contains the most important sets of shared libraries: the standard C

library and the standard math library. Without these two libraries, a

Linux system will not function.

This update improves compatibility with legacy 32-bit i386 applications

(RHBZ#1471427) and addresses a minor security vulnerability in the DNS stub

resolver (CVE-2017-12132).
