Several security issues were fixed in the Linux kernel.
Software Description:
- linux-intel-5.13: Linux kernel for Intel IOTG
Details:
Nick Gregory discovered that the Linux kernel incorrectly handled network
offload functionality. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of
service or possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-25636)
Enrico Barberis, Pietro Frigo, Marius Muench, Herbert Bos, and Cristiano
Giuffrida discovered that hardware mitigations added by ARM to their
processors to address Spectre-BTI were insufficient. A local attacker could
potentially use this to expose sensitive information. (CVE-2022-23960)
It was discovered that the BPF verifier in the Linux kernel did not
properly restrict pointer types in certain situations. A local attacker
could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly
execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-23222)
Max Kellermann discovered that the Linux kernel incorrectly handled Unix
pipes. A local attacker could ...
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS: linux-image-5.13.0-1010-intel 5.13.0-1010.10 linux-image-intel 5.13.0.1010.11 After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.
