Several security issues were fixed in the Linux kernel.
Software Description:
- linux-azure-fde: Linux kernel for Microsoft Azure CVM cloud systems
Details:
It was discovered that the BPF verifier in the Linux kernel did not
properly handle internal data structures. A local attacker could use this
to expose sensitive information (kernel memory). (CVE-2021-4159)
It was discovered that an out-of-bounds write vulnerability existed in the
Video for Linux 2 (V4L2) implementation in the Linux kernel. A local
attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or
possibly execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-20369)
Duoming Zhou discovered that race conditions existed in the timer handling
implementation of the Linux kernel's Rose X.25 protocol layer, resulting in
use-after-free vulnerabilities. A local attacker could use this to cause a
denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2022-2318)
Roger Pau Monné discovered that the Xen virtual block driver i...
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS: linux-image-5.4.0-1092-azure-fde 5.4.0-1092.97+cvm1.1 linux-image-azure-fde 5.4.0.1092.97+cvm1.32 After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.
