Several security issues were fixed in the Linux kernel.
Software Description:
- linux-azure-fde: Linux kernel for Microsoft Azure CVM cloud systems
Details:
It was discovered that the TUN/TAP driver in the Linux kernel did not
properly initialize socket data. A local attacker could use this to cause a
denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2023-1076)
It was discovered that the Real-Time Scheduling Class implementation in the
Linux kernel contained a type confusion vulnerability in some situations. A
local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash).
(CVE-2023-1077)
It was discovered that the ASUS HID driver in the Linux kernel did not
properly handle device removal, leading to a use-after-free vulnerability.
A local attacker with physical access could plug in a specially crafted USB
device to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2023-1079)

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS: linux-image-5.15.0-1041-azure-fde 5.15.0-1041.48.1 linux-image-azure-fde 5.15.0.1041.48.19 linux-image-azure-fde-lts-22.04 5.15.0.1041.48.19 After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.
