Jhead could be made to crash or run programs as your login if it opened a specially crafted file.. =========================================================================Ubuntu Security Notice USN-6108-1 May 25, 2023 Jhead vulnerabilities ========================================================================= A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives: - Ubuntu 22.10 - Ubuntu 22.04 LTS - Ubuntu 20.04 LTS - Ubuntu 18.04 LTS - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro) - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro) Summary: Jhead could be made to crash or run programs as your login if it opened a specially crafted file. Software Description: - jhead: Manipulate the non-image part of Exif compliant JPEG files Details: It was discovered that Jhead did not properly handle certain crafted images while rotating them. An attacker could possibly use this issue to crash Jhead, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2021-34055) Kyle Brown discovered that Jhead did not properly handle certain crafted images while regenerating the Exif thumbnail. An attacker could possibly use this issue to execute arbitrary commands.
