Low: yum bugfix update. Date: Tue, 14 Jul 2009 14:44:25 -0500 Reply-To: Troy Dawson Sender: Security Errata for Scientific Linux From: Troy Dawson Subject: Security ERRATA Low: yum on SL5.x i386/x86_64 Comments: To: "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." Synopsis: Low: yum bugfix update Issue date: 2009-07-14 This updated yum package fixes the following bugs: * The nightly yum.cron will spew out alot of information during the add-ons section. The logging level for these information messages was turned up so that it doesn't happen during yum.cron * The kernel-module plugin now detects when yum has chosen a kernel-module for a kernel not installed. It will put the correct kernel-module on the list to be installed, and remove the poorly choosen kernel-module from the installation list. For SL 50 and 51 machines the following features have been added * installonlyn is not a plugin but built into yum. To turn this feature off, put the following line in /etc/yum.conf installonly_limit = 0 The following default setting has been changed * installonlyn defaults to 4 instead of 3 SL 5.x SRPMS: yum-3.2.19-25.sl.src.rpm i386: yum-3.2.19-25.sl.noarch.rpm x86_64: yum-3.2.19-25.sl.noarch.rpm -Connie Sieh -Troy Dawson . This minor bug fix release for yum on SL5.x resolves various issues, enhancing stability and functionality for users.. yum update, SL5 bugfix, scientific linux, kernel module fix, low severity update. . Scientific Linux 4.x: Yum Security Update Moderate Threat

Moderate: yum security update. Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2008 15:27:32 -0500 Reply-To: Troy Dawson Sender: Security Errata for Scientific Linux From: Troy Dawson Subject: Security ERRATA for yum on SL4.x i386/x86_64 Comments: To: "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." Synopsis: Moderate: yum security update Issue date: 2008-10-06 When RedHat started putting the %{dist} variable into their rpm names, it took the Scientific Linux developers a while to believe that was what they were really going to settle on. (There were two other distribution naming schemes RedHat used before this, so we thought this one would only last a month or two.) As a result, we ended up with several security updates with poor names. These poorly named packages could not be updated when newer security updates came out. This yum update contains a plugin called "versionfix". Versionfix allows yum to update poorly named packages. These poorly named packages will be updated the next time yum is run. On a normal system, this will be the next day. SL 4.x SRPMS: yum-2.4.3-4.SL.src.rpm i386: yum-2.4.3-4.SL.noarch.rpm x86_64: yum-2.4.3-4.SL.noarch.rpm -Connie Sieh -Troy Dawson . This upgrade resolves significant safety issues for SL4.x, improving package handling via the versionfix extension.. Scientific Linux yum security, moderate security update, package management SL4.x. . LinuxSecurity.com Team
