Almost a third of UK companies experience a complete network crash at least once every 12 weeks, according to a new study. A quarter of companies say they've lost critical data because of virus attacks, and 16 per cent say that, in the last six months, they've had to take their network down to sort out a severe virus problem. The survey, carried out by research firm Vanson Bourne, was sponsored by Network Associates. Vanson talked to 120 network managers in large UK organisations in both the private and public sectors. The main problem seems to be email viruses, with only 34 per cent of respondents feeling completely satisfied that their current antivirus measures are sufficient to rebuff such attacks.
