Activists from hacker movement Anonymous have attacked the servers of Strategic Forecasting (Stratfor) and claim they have gained access to more than 200 gigabytes of mail data. E-mail hosting company Servers Australia was the victim of a hack attack on Friday which spammed its customers with offensive e-mails by assuming the company's domain name. A company source said the company is "almost 100% sure" the attack exploited a flaw in its Kayako security appliances which allowed the attacker to spam its users. . According to the source, the hacker blindly injected the HTML spam into the support system but was denied access to client information. On average the unprotected website was attacked more than 2,000 times per week and the protected site more than 200 times. Many of the attacks were rated as "high risk" and, if the websites were real, could have seen data destroyed or important customer information stolen. The two dummy sites were set up by net provider PSINet and security firm PanSec International to demonstrate the relentlessness of online malicious hack attacks. The fake websites were made to look like they were operated by European banks. One was protected with a standard firewall but the other was left almost defenceless. .
