Debian's DSA-1785-1 resolves a vulnerability in the apache2 package leading to unauthorized access due to ineffective directory restrictions.
Peter Palfrader discovered that in the Git revision control system, on some architectures files under /usr/share/git-core/templates/ were owned by a non-root user

Summary

This issue only affects the DEC Alpha and MIPS (big and little endian)
architectures.

For the old stable distribution (etch), this problem has been fixed in
version 1.4.4.4-4+etch2.

For the stable distribution (lenny), this problem has been fixed in
version 1.5.6.5-3+lenny1.

For the unstable distribution (sid), this problem has been fixed in
version 1.6.2.1-1.

We recommend that you upgrade your git-core package.

Upgrade instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
