The recent Debian advisory DSA 425-1 reveals a severe vulnerability in GnuPG that can lead to unauthorized data exposure through key management.
A malicious archive (such as a .tar file) could cause arbitrary code to be executed if opened by Midnight Commander.

Summary

A vulnerability was discovered in Midnight Commander, a file manager,
whereby a malicious archive (such as a .tar file) could cause
arbitrary code to be executed if opened by Midnight Commander.

For the current stable distribution (woody) this problem has been
fixed in version 4.5.55-1.2woody2.

For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem has been fixed in
version 1:4.6.0-4.6.1-pre1-1.

We recommend that you update your mc package.

Upgrade Instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
