debian lts
Calendar Grey January 20, 2021
Dist Debian Esm H88
A security vulnerability concerning Denial of Service has been addressed in Mutt within Debian LTS Advisory DLA-2529-1. It is recommended to update your packages to ensure protection.
rfc822.c in Mutt through 2.0.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (mailbox unavailability) by sending email messages with sequences of semicolon characters in RFC...

Summary

A small email message from the attacker can cause large
memory consumption, and the victim may then be unable to
see email messages from other persons.

For Debian 9 stretch, this problem has been fixed in version
1.7.2-1+deb9u5.

We recommend that you upgrade your mutt packages.
