slackware
Calendar Grey March 24, 2024
Dist Slackware Esm H88
Recent updates to emacs packages have been released for Slackware, targeting vital security issues and improving overall system defense.
New emacs packages are available for Slackware 15.0 and -current to fix security issues

Summary

Here are the details from the Slackware 15.0 ChangeLog: patches/packages/emacs-29.3-i586-1_slack15.0.txz: Upgraded. GNU Emacs through 28.2 allows attackers to execute commands via shell metacharacters in the name of a source-code file, because lib-src/etags.c uses the system C library function in its implementation of the ctags program. For example, a victim may use the "ctags *" command (suggested in the ctags documentation) in a situation where the current working directory has contents that depend on untrusted input.
