A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 25.04
- Ubuntu 24.10
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Summary:

net-tools could be made to crash or run programs as your login if it
opened a specially crafted input.

Software Description:
- net-tools: NET-3 networking toolkit

Details:

It was discovered that net-tools incorrectly handled certain inputs.
An attacker could possible use this issue to cause a crash or execute
arbitrary code.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
