A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score,. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 ==================================================================== Red Hat Security Advisory Synopsis: Important: java-17-openjdk security and bug fix update Advisory ID: RHSA-2023:1900-01 Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advisory URL: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:1900 Issue date: 2023-04-20 CVE Names: CVE-2023-21930 CVE-2023-21937 CVE-2023-21938 CVE-2023-21939 CVE-2023-21954 CVE-2023-21967 CVE-2023-21968 ==================================================================== 1. Summary: An update for java-17-openjdk is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 Extended Update Support. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat CodeReady Linux Builder EUS (v.9.0) - aarch64, ppc64le, s390x, x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux AppStream EUS (v.9.0) - aarch64, ppc64le, s390x, x86_64 3. Description: The java-17-openjdk packages provide the OpenJDK 17 Java Runtime Environment and the OpenJDK 17 Java Software Development Kit. Security Fix(es): * OpenJDK: improper connection handling during TLS handshake (8294474) (CVE-2023-21930) * OpenJDK: Swing HTML parsing issue (8296832) (CVE-2023-21939) * OpenJDK: incorrect enqueue of references in garbage collector (8298191) (CVE-2023-21954) * OpenJDK: certificate validation issue in TLS session negotiation (8298310) (CVE-2023-21967) * OpenJDK: missing string checks for NULL characters(8296622) (CVE-2023-21937) * OpenJDK: incorrect handling of NULL characters in ProcessBuilder (8295304) (CVE-2023-21938) * OpenJDK: missing check for slash characters in URI-to-path conversion (8298667) (CVE-2023-21968) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section. Bug Fix(es): * In FIPS mode, the list of cryptographic services and algorithms available is limited to those that are FIPS compliant. It was found that this filtering was too strict and was also excluding service attributes. These attributes are now made available in FIPS mode, as they are in non-FIPS mode. (RHBZ#2186805) * Previously, the XML signature provider was unable to operate in FIPS mode. Following recent enhancements to FIPS mode support, the XML signature provider can now be supported. It is now enabled in FIPS mode. (RHBZ#2186812) * The PKCS#11 provider used by FIPS mode can be supported by different PKCS#11 tokens. It was found that some PKCS#11 tokens may not be initialised fully before use, leading to an exception being thrown by the provider. With this release, this exception is now expected and handled by the FIPS support code. (RHBZ#2186808) 4. Solution: For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 All running instances of OpenJDK Java must be restarted for this update to take effect. 5. Bugs fixed (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/): 2186805 - Add missing attributes when registering services in FIPS mode [rhel-9, openjdk-17] [rhel-9.0.0.z] 2186808 - C_GetInfo can throw an exception if called before initialization in some PKCS #11 tokens [rhel-9, openjdk-17] [rhel-9.0.0.z] 2186812 - Enable XML Signature provider in FIPS mode [rhel-9, openjdk-17] [rhel-9.0.0.z] 2187435 - CVE-2023-21930 OpenJDK: improper connection handling during TLS handshake (8294474) 2187441 - CVE-2023-21954 OpenJDK:incorrect enqueue of references in garbage collector (8298191) 2187704 - CVE-2023-21967 OpenJDK: certificate validation issue in TLS session negotiation (8298310) 2187724 - CVE-2023-21939 OpenJDK: Swing HTML parsing issue (8296832) 2187758 - CVE-2023-21938 OpenJDK: incorrect handling of NULL characters in ProcessBuilder (8295304) 2187790 - CVE-2023-21937 OpenJDK: missing string checks for NULL characters (8296622) 2187802 - CVE-2023-21968 OpenJDK: missing check for slash characters in URI-to-path conversion (8298667) 6. Summary: Updated rh-postgresql94-postgresql packages that fix three security issues are now available for Red Hat Software Collections 2. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Moderate security impact. Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base scores, which give detailed severity ratings, are available for each vulnerability from the CVE links in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 6) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 7) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server EUS (v. 6.5) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server EUS (v. 6.6) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server EUS (v. 7.1) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation (v. 6) - x86_64 Red Hat Software Collections for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation (v. 7) - x86_64 3. Description: PostgreSQL is an advanced object-relational database management system (DBMS). A double-free flaw was found in the connection handling. Anunauthenticated attacker could exploit this flaw to crash the PostgreSQL back end by disconnecting at approximately the same time as the authentication time out is triggered. (CVE-2015-3165) It was discovered that PostgreSQL did not properly check the return values of certain standard library functions. If the system is in a state that would cause the standard library functions to fail, for example memory exhaustion, an authenticated user could exploit this flaw to disclose partial memory contents or cause the GSSAPI authentication to use an incorrect keytab file. (CVE-2015-3166) It was discovered that the pgcrypto module could return different error messages when decrypting certain data with an incorrect key. This can help an authenticated user to launch a possible cryptographic attack, although no suitable attack is currently known. (CVE-2015-3167) Red Hat would like to thank the PostgreSQL project for reporting these issues. Upstream acknowledges Benkocs Norbert Attila as the original reporter of CVE-2015-3165 and Noah Misch as the original reporter of CVE-2015-3166 and CVE-2015-3167. All PostgreSQL users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which contain backported patches to correct these issues. If the rh-postgresql94-postgresql service is running, it will be automatically restarted after installing this update. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. For details on how to apply this update, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 5. Bugs fixed (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/): 1221537 - CVE-2015-3165 postgresql: double-free after authentication timeout 1221539 - CVE-2015-3166 postgresql: unanticipated errors from the standard library 1221541 - CVE-2015-3167 postgresql: pgcrypto has multiple error messages for decryption with an incorrect key. 6. Description: PostgreSQL is an advancedobject-relational database management system (DBMS). A double-free flaw was found in the connection handling. An unauthenticated attacker could exploit this flaw to crash the PostgreSQL back end by disconnecting at approximately the same time as the authentication time out is triggered. If the postgresql service is running, it will be automatically restarted after installing this update. 6. Synopsis: Moderate: httpd security update Issue date: 2009-05-27 CVE Names: CVE-2008-1678 CVE-2009-1195 A flaw was found in the handling of compression structures between mod_ssl and OpenSSL. If too many connections were opened in a short period of time, all system memory and swap space would be consumed by httpd, negatively impacting other processes, or causing a system crash. (CVE-2008-1678) A flaw was found in the handling of the "Options" and "AllowOverride" directives. In configurations using the "AllowOverride" directive with certain "Options=" arguments, local users were not restricted from executing commands from a Server-Side-Include script as intended. (CVE-2009-1195) Users must restart httpd for this update to take effect.
