Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0: RHSA-2016:1270-01 Critical XSS Fix

An update for python-django-horizon is now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0 (Liberty). Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score,. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ==================================================================== Red Hat Security Advisory Synopsis: Important: python-django-horizon security update Advisory ID: RHSA-2016:1270-01 Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform Advisory URL: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016:1270 Issue date: 2016-06-21 CVE Names: CVE-2016-4428 ==================================================================== 1. Summary: An update for python-django-horizon is now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0 (Liberty). Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having a security impact of Important. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available for each vulnerability from the CVE link(s) in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.0 (Liberty) - noarch 3. Description: OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon) provides administrators and users with a graphical interface to access, provision, and automate cloud-based resources. Security Fix(es): * A DOM-based, cross-site scripting vulnerability was found in the OpenStack dashboard, where user input was not filtered correctly. An authenticated dashboard user could exploit the flaw by injecting an AngularJS template into a dashboard form (for example, using an image's description), triggering the vulnerability when another user browsed the affected page. As a result, this flaw could result in user accounts being compromised (for example, user-access credentials being stolen). (CVE-2016-4428) Red Hat would like to thank the OpenStack project for reporting this issue. Upstream acknowledges BethLancaster (Virginia Tech) and Brandon Sawyers(Virginia Tech) as the original reporters. 4. Solution: For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 5. Bugs fixed (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/): 1343982 - CVE-2016-4428 python-django-horizon: XSS in client side template 6. RHEL 7 RHSA-2014:1335-01 Moderate: OpenStack XSS Issue Overview

Updated python-django-horizon packages that fix one security issue and several bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Moderate security. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ==================================================================== Red Hat Security Advisory Synopsis: Moderate: python-django-horizon security and bug fix update Advisory ID: RHSA-2014:1335-01 Product: Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform Advisory URL: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2014:1335.html Issue date: 2014-09-30 CVE Names: CVE-2014-3594 ==================================================================== 1. Summary: Updated python-django-horizon packages that fix one security issue and several bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Moderate security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0 for RHEL 7 - noarch 3. Description: OpenStack Dashboard (horizon) provides administrators and users a graphical interface to access, provision and automate cloud-based resources. The dashboard allows cloud administrators to get an overall view of the size and state of the cloud and it provides end-users a self-service portal to provision their own resources within the limits set by administrators. A persistent cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw was found in the horizon host aggregate interface. A user with sufficient privileges to add a host aggregate could potentially use this flaw to capture the credentials of another user. (CVE-2014-3594) Red Hat would like to thank the OpenStack project for reportingthis issue. Upstream acknowledges Dennis Felsch and Mario Heiderich from the Horst Görtz Institute for IT-Security, Ruhr-University Bochum as the original reporters. This update also fixes the following bugs: * Prior to this update, the "Create an Image" page rendering was blocked during a file upload. This could cause the browser to disconnect after a certain period of time, especially when uploading large files. With this update, the upload is handled in a separate thread, and large image uploads started via the web dashboard are less likely to time out and fail. (BZ#1089672) * Creating a user using keystoneclient could fail because keystoneclient attempted to create a role for the new user when setting up the user. When a role already existed, this operation failed and a new user was not created. This update fixes this bug, and user creation works as expected. (BZ#1094494) All python-django-horizon users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which correct these issues. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 5. Bugs fixed (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/): 1109417 - Adding a new Security Rule to a Security Group shouldn't remove the sort on the table 1124485 - Horizon has an incomplete tag which is visable under chrome. 1129774 - CVE-2014-3594 openstack-horizon: persistent XSS in Horizon Host Aggregates interface 6. Our key and detailson how to verify the signature are available from https://access.redhat.com/security/team/key/#package 7.
