Slackware 14.0 & 14.1: 2013-350-03 Moderate: LLVM Rpath Security Issue

New llvm packages are available for Slackware 14.0, 14.1, and -current to fix a security issue. . -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 [slackware-security] llvm (SSA:2013-350-03) New llvm packages are available for Slackware 14.0, 14.1, and -current to fix a security issue. Here are the details from the Slackware 14.1 ChangeLog: +--------------------------+ patches/packages/llvm-3.3-i486-3_slack14.1.txz: Rebuilt. The LLVM package included binaries with an rpath pointing to the build location in /tmp. This allows an attacker with write access to /tmp to add modified libraries (and execute arbitrary code) as any user running the LLVM binaries. This updated package rebuilds LLVM to exclude the build directories from the rpath information. Thanks to Christopher Oliver for the bug report. (* Security fix *) +--------------------------+ Where to find the new packages: +-----------------------------+ Thanks to the friendly folks at the OSU Open Source Lab (https://osuosl.org/) for donating FTP and rsync hosting to the Slackware project! :-) Also see the "Get Slack" section on http://www.slackware.com/ for additional mirror sites near you.
