Several of Microsoft's high-profile Web sites remained inaccessible late Wednesday morning, a problem that has lasted nearly half a day and that may be the result of an attack. Since Tuesday night, the software and Internet giant has experienced problems with access to its various properties, including Microsoft.com, MSN.com, WindowsMedia.com, Encarta.com, Carpoint.com and Expedia.com, said spokesman Adam Sohn. He added that the company's engineers have not ruled out the possibility that a so-called denial-of-service (DOS) attack is causing the outage.
