Crossbeam Systems Ships the X40S, the "Open Security Appliance"

Crossbeam Systems, Inc., announced general availability of version 2.0 of the Crossbeam X40S, the first "open appliance" for providing a complete, high-performance security solution composed of multiple "best of breed" applications from leading independent software vendors (ISVs). Initial enterprise and service provider deployments have shown that the high-availability X40S yields a 10-fold price/performance improvement over traditional security solutions through an innovative, patent-pending method of distributing security applications across up to 10 open application processors. By combining the flexibility of servers with the performance, reliability and simplicity of appliances, the X40S radically improves security implementation in data centers while greatly reducing software, hardware and management costs.
