In April, "The Moscow Times" confirmed reports that US diplomats had tried to hire a Moscow hacker to break into Russia's Federal Security Service's network. The 20-year-old hacker, identified as "Vers," said he was asked to copy, alter, and delete files in exchange for $10,000. Vers instead went to the Russian government and told officials about the diplomats' offer.
