SystemRescue 9.06 Release: New Xfce 4.18 And Enhanced Tools

The new version also adds the Memtest86+ 6.00 memory tester for UEFI in the GRUB boot menu and the inxi system information tool. . Two months after the last release, SystemRescue (formerly known as SystemRescueCd) Linux system rescue toolkit has been updated today to version 9.06, a release that adds new options to the boot menu, updated components, and new tools. SystemRescue 9.06 is here with the latest and greatest Xfce 4.18 desktop environment. We could say that this is the first ISO release of a GNU/Linux distribution that ships with Xfce 4.18, but SystemRescue is not a full-fledged desktop system as it’s designed mainly as a bootable medium for administrating or repairing your system. This release updates the Memtest86+ memory tester to version 6.00 for UEFI in the GRUB boot menu, adds the pacman-faketime command to workaround expired package signing keys, and adds support for serial consoles (ttyS0,115200n8) in the bootloader and boot options. IBM's New Homomorphic Encryption Toolkit for Linux Users Unveiled

IBM claims to have developed a new fully homomorphic encryption toolkit for Linux, which is available on GitHub for public use. . IBM said the new technology would provide the ability to protect and process data simultaneously by Linux distributions that run on IBM Z and x86 architectures. It said the technology, initially suggested by mathematicians in the 1970s and first demonstrated in 2009, provided a different way to protect data privacy. IBM's Flavio Bergamaschi and Eli Dow said in a note accompanying the announcement that so far it had not been possible to keep data protected and processed at the same time. . Unveil the cutting-edge toolkit from IBM for homomorphic encryption, ensuring data security during processing on UNIX platforms.. Introducing REMnux Version 7: Key Updates in Malware Analysis Toolkit

Are you familiar with the REMnux Linux-based toolkit for malware analysis? Version 7 - which features updated tools and utilities - is now available. . SANS Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR), a curriculum focus area of SANS Institute, today announces the availability of version 7 of the REMnux® toolkit for malware analysis, founded and primarily maintained by Lenny Zeltser , SANS Faculty Fellow and course author. Updates to the REMnux toolkit will be shared and discussed by Lenny Zeltser in a SANS webcast on July 28 . REMnux is a popular Linux-based toolkit for reverse-engineering malicious software which malware analysts have been relying on for more than 10 years to help them quickly investigate suspicious programs, websites, and document files. As the security industry matures, it becomes harder to keep track of all the tools that are available to assist with the variety of tasks that malware analysts, incident responders, and forensic investigators face. REMnux makes hundreds of free tools, all contributed by the community, available to analysts without having to discover, install, and configure them. . Explore REMnux Version 7, featuring enhanced tools for malware analysis and incident response, a user-friendly interface, improved disassembly, and automation scripts. IBM's Linux Toolkit: Improving Data Security Using Homomorphic Encryption

IBM's new toolkit, which will soon be available for Linux, aims to give developers easier access to fully homomorphic encryption, a technology that protects sensitive data by allowing for computation and analysis of data while keeping it encrypted. . Eleven years ago, IBM made a breakthrough in the development of fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), a technology that allows for computation and analysis of data while keeping it encrypted. FHE holds significant promise for a number of uses, IBM says -- particularly any operations that involve highly sensitive data that must be protected. However, FHE remains a complicated technology that's hard to implement. IBM aims to change that with the release of new toolkits that should help developers start experimenting with FHE and eventually incorporate it into the products they build. The toolkit is available today in GitHub for MacOS and iOS, and it will soon be available for Linux and Android. . Microsoft's newest framework enables programmers to implement advanced quantum cryptography on Windows, protecting information while processing.. Phreebird DNSSEC Toolkit Launch By Dan Kaminsky At Black Hat Abu Dhabi

Renowned researcher Dan Kaminsky tomorrow at Black Hat Abu Dhabi will release a free toolkit that lets organizations test-drive DNSSEC deployment and also demonstrates his claims that the protocol is simple to implement.. "I've been making a lot of claims and promises about what DNSSEC is capable of and why the security industry should care. This is the argument I've been putting forth, in code form. This is for real," says Kaminsky, who will make the Phreebird Suite 1.0 kit available tomorrow on the Black Hat website. Kaminsky gave a sneak peek demonstration of Phreebird at Black Hat USA in July. Phreebird Suite 1.0 is a real-time DNSSEC proxy that sits in front of a DNS server and digitally signs its responses. "This is a collection of technologies [that show how] DNSSEC can be very easily deployed on the server side and trivially on client side," he says. The code is not for operational use, he says, but for testing out the technology. The link for this article located at Dark Reading is no longer available. .
