Guardian Digital: 3.0 Secure Mail Suite Launch With New Security Features

New features in the 3.0 version include Sender Permitted From (SPF) filtering, which verifies that email received from a user domain was really sent from that domain. If not, the email will never get to the user. . . .. The 3.0 version of Secure Mail Suite from Guardian Digital, which builds Internet security products from open source software, adds the Content and Policy Enforcement engine that addresses user privacy, spam and virus protection, corporate policy enforcement and content analysis. New features in the 3.0 version include Sender Permitted From (SPF) filtering, which verifies that email received from a user domain was really sent from that domain. If not, the email will never get to the user. "There is a big community effort surrounding this project," says Dave Wreski, CEO of Guardian Digital, noting that the approach is being submitted to become an IETF [Internet Engineering Task Force] standard. The content analysis works by scrutinizing email headers and bodies to find characteristics inconsistent with corporate policies, which it can block and quarantine. User privacy is provided by encryption, and the use of certificates and advanced SSL and TLS mail protocols. For corporate policy enforcement, the product supports use of a list of key words to prevent specific messages from entering or leaving the organization.
