The MailFoundry Network Appliance is new and differently conceived anti-spam solution from Green Bay, WI-based Solinus, Inc. What makes MailFoundry different from most spam filters is that it relies on human input rather than automation to find spam, and what makes it very different is its low cost. "It takes the smarts of human beings to defeat human beings," says Solinus CEO David Troup, "Our human editors craft the filtering rules, and their objective is a zero per cent false positive rate." The company has team of "spam editors" constantly looking at spam e-mail message candidates to detect new spam patterns to add to the appliance's filters. How many editors does Solinus employ? "That's a trade secret," says Troup. An important target market for Solinus is the small and medium-sized business market. The hardware version of the product can be purchased for $2,995, with a $499 annual subscription fee to keep the filters up to date. Spam filters are updated "almost constantly" according to Troup. The link for this article located at John Dickinson, Messaging Pipeline is no longer available. . MailFoundry's unique spam filtering blends human insight with efficient tech, enabling businesses to manage emails effectively while reducing spam encounters.
