Firefox 90 Release for Linux: FTP Removal and New Security Features

Mozilla Firefox 90 is now available to Linux users for download, removing built-in FTP (File Transfer Protocol) support, and introducing support for Fetch Metadata Request Headers, a security feature that lets web apps protect themselves and you against various cross-origin threats, such as cross-site request forgery (CSRF), cross-site leaks (XS-Leaks), or speculative cross-site execution side channel (Spectre) attacks.

Canonical has released a new Linux kernel live patch for its Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS OS series to address a single security vulnerability in Linux kernel’s Shiftfs out-of-tree stacking file system, which could have allowed a local attacker to cause a denial of service (memory exhaustion) or gain root privileges by executing arbitrary code.
