slackware
Calendar Grey April 3, 2007
Dist Slackware Esm H88
Archive collections for different Slackware versions address a memory overflow vulnerability that poses a threat of running harmful scripts.

New file packages are available for Slackware 8.1, 9.0, 9.1, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 11.0, and -current to fix a security issue

Summary

Here are the details from the Slackware 11.0 ChangeLog: patches/packages/file-4.20-i486-1_slack11.0.tgz: Upgraded to file-4.20. This fixes a heap overflow that could allow code to be executed as the user running file (note that there are many scenarios where file might be used automatically, such as in virus scanners or spam filters). For more information, see: https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2007-1536 (* Security fix *)

Where Find New Packages

HINT: Getting slow download speeds from ftp.slackware.com? Give slackware.osuosl.org a try. This is another primary FTP site for Slackware that can be considerably faster than downloading from ftp.slackware.com.
Thanks to the friendly folks at the OSU Open Source Lab (https://osuosl.org/) for donating additional FTP and rsync hosting to the Slackware project! :-)
Also see the "Get Slack" section on http://www.slackware.com/ for additional mirror sites near you.
